I have a few new projects in mind now that the Christmas in July party is down.
I will be doing some new paintings and of course my writing and some more jewerly; but there is a bigger project that has been in the back of my mind for quite some time. And I think the time to start getting to work on it is now.
As most everyone knows by now, my eldest daughter has severe autism.
This in itself can make life a living roller coaster. You never know which hill or loop you're gonna hit from one day to the next; one minute to the next even.
But these things can take a toll on everyone in the family. There is no time to just be or even vacation away from it. It's okay I am used to it, but really should I be?
Our family has never taken a family vacation,( heck it's rare for me and my husband to have a date night.)
The reasons for this is a) money is always tight in autism families, (unless you are a celebrity or some such) and b) we never know what will happen if we go somewhere.
So this brings me to my project.
Here's a short story to start it off.
When I was younger my oldest brother had leukaemia. My family was in pretty much the same boat as what we are now. Living pay check to pay check, etc. and then a miracle happened. We were granted a make-a-wish wish. My brother of course picked Disney. We were granted a fabulous week down at Disney. It is something I have never forgotten. And will always praise and give thanks to make a wish for. (They do amazing amazing work, please look into them and help out if you can).
So this leads me into my new project. I want to do this for families that live with autism.
I want to be able to grant families that live their lives on the roller coaster a week of memories.
So this is where all of you come in. I will be looking for help and support in the next while to help get this off the ground and the ball rolling. So if you have any suggestions or input, please feel free to hand it over.
So look for the link to the new website for this in the next few weeks. And let's get to helping out the families.
Much love,
Until next time,
Lana
